Jubilee Housing Website Redesign

Jubilee-Housing-LogoHorizontal.jpg

Worked directly with D.C non-profit, Jubilee Housing, which provides affordable housing for low-income families, to redesign their website to accommodate increasing online traffic and foster a community.

Project Timeline: 4 months

Role: User Researcher, Prototype Designer

Tools: , Prototype Design, Sketch, Invision

Challenge

Develop a cohesive and intuitive design for Jubilee Housing’s website that exemplifies their values and encompasses their wide scope of services. Client requested the redesign simplify the volume of content on their current site and provide an adaptable framework for future changes.

Goal

Create a website that provides useful information to current residents and allows potential new members to learn more.

Solution

Redesign Jubilee Housing’s existing site map and information architecture to present clear and actionable paths.

Phase 1: Research

Users in Jubilee Housing’s target audience only visited their website to learn more about housing options and begin the application process. These users needed a way to learn about Jubilee Housing’s supportive services and community-generated content—in addition to just housing opportunities—and easily discover anything they are interested in.

Phase 2: Ideation

I translated the concept of Jubilee Housing’s website redesign into a site map. Outlining this flow helped me create mid-fidelity wireframes, which I was able to test, validating my concept before moving forward with designing digitally.

With user feedback from these tests, my design progressed from low-fidelity to mid-fidelity wireframes.

Phase 3:
Next steps

After conducting two rounds of testing, I created an updated site map of Jubilee Housing’s website, based on my design iterations. In considering future iterations, I would like to incorporate a feature for members that allows them to keep track of the application process. This would require creating an account and accessing a resident profile and account page.
